TITLE: Better than nothing?
AUTHORS: E.F. DATE WRITTEN: Oct 16th 2013 Click here to read this article. SUMMARY: Elections in Madagascar are happening for the first time since a coup in 2009. They are running into problems because some of the roads aren't paved and the remote villages are too far away to get the voting vehicles to the people in the village. Many of the media outlets are owned by major candidates. Nonetheless, it is good that the country is getting new leaders. POLITICS: This relates to politics because the country is, for the first time in four years, coming together to elect new politicians. This is important for the country because the politicians these people elect will control what goes on in their lives. |
OPINION:
I think this is good for the country because the people will finally be able to have new officials that will have a new outlook on the future of the country. It is important for new people to be cycled through political office so old ideas aren't recycled over and over. New people bring new ideas, and that's important for politics. |
