Population.
Turkmenistan is in stage three of the demographic transition model. The population is declining with the death rate remains steady. While there are still 16 more people being born than there are dying, the birth rate is down compared to where it had been years ago. One of the factors of this is because the health care in Turkmenistan is so bad. One woman had to pay $300 US dollars to get an adequate doctor to help deliver her baby, and a day after the birth she was sent home with no after-pregnancy care. This can really make women reluctant to have kids, thus decreasing the birth rate.
